An Abysmal Fomori stalks through the snow wastes

This is a huge one, it kind of pushes the boundary of what you could call a miniature… Standing a whopping 23cm tall this is a giant amongst giants.

This is probably the largest resin kit we will produce here at Dark Heartwood as if they get any bigger you just won’t be able use them on a table top.

So what were the thoughts behind the design?

Well, giants are common place in fantasy tabletop games, so it makes sense that DH would have one.. but as we’ve shown so far, a lot of our miniaures tend to be… creepier? So we thought, what if it was a cannibal.

That spiraled a lot of ideas, but mostly what would happen to their body due to prolonged exposure. In DH lore cannibalism slowly affects the individual, much like wendigo or ghouls in real world mythology. With a giant the effects are only going to be bigger! and what we are left with is a wendigo giant, stretched and strained by its hunger.

The kit itself is quite a big commitment from a production standpoint so we also changed a few points on it and will release it has a cyclops too. By changing the arms, faceplate and items attached to his belt we were able to alter the shape of the kit quite drastically.

The new cyclops version of the kit will be out soon.

This is the view of somebody about to become giant food. (I mean, they will be small… but the giants will eat them, well no small… but small to the giants, oh you know what I mean…)

So now there are two giants! they are going to need something to fight… It will be a while before we see something else this big stumbles its way into the Heartwood. But there will undoubtedly be an equally impressive kit on the way eventually!

Who knows what it could be…

Pumpkins? Crustaceans? Dragons? Mushrooms?? Who knows!
