Welcome to Dark Heartwood.

Dark Heartwood consists of two artists: Tom Rush and Emily Endelaine. Every part of the company is created by us and almost everything you see on the site** is something we spent time drawing, sculpting, making and designing. That’s a huge NO to generative AI.

That’s a lot of work!

The two of us are responsible for:

  • The 2D art you see throughout the site.

  • The sculpting and designing of the miniatures and any of the products we sell.

  • The moulding and casting of the product.

  • The packing of orders!

Why do we think this important to mention?

Sometimes it can look like this is a big company, but honestly every order we get is something we have personally made from scratch in our studio, every order is meaningful to us - it’s not just shifting a product from a warehouse to you. When you buy from us you are supporting two artists, not shareholders or investors. Just two people who like to sculpt and draw spooky things.

So what’s our process?

Initially when first created Dark Heartwood in 2020 we were getting our heads around digital sculpting, so a lot of the earlier models you’ll see on the site are have been digitally sculpted with 3D printed masters.

However, the more time we spent in the digital world of screens, tablets and software the more we wanted to get back to our beginnings and to produce miniatures in the way they were traditionally created - sculpted by hand - which is exactly what we are doing now! Eventually once we learn the process we’ll start casting in metal too!

Tom
